Challenge "Classical Ciphers^3"

  By: admin on May 7, 2010, 1:23 p.m.

This challenge contains three messages encrypted with classical ciphers. You will need break each of the ciphers and take note of the three codewords. When you have all three codewords, submit them in the form "codeword1-codeword2-codeword3". Please note that the codewords are case sensitive and you have only 5 trials to find the correct solution. The MTC3 team wishes everybody much success and fun in finding the correct solution.

If I remember rightly, there was an error in this ciphertext but only a small one that doesnt effect much.

The ciphertext is in ENGLISH. Thus the one letter words can only be "A" or "I" and the two letter words are likely to be "IN","AN","IS","IT","AS" etc. Try looking for the word "THE".

I found this one easier to do by working from the end, since I could guess most of the last sentence from the context of the challenge (what are you looking for from each part of the challenge?). Of course if you don't speak English then this might not be so easy for you to do.

No, it is not…

However, the language behind the third part is kind of irrelevant.. :)

Cheers,

The 2nd cipher text has few errors, I guess. [HTML_REMOVED] anyways thanks for the hint that the language is irrelevant, it clicked in no time . D-AH CHA WOL-LA-CHEE A-CHIN BA-AH-NE-DI-TININ KLESH .

Hello,

there is a problem in accepting the solution. ?? Help.

I entered the solution in format

firstword-secondword-thirdword

and capitalization was taken care of.

Yes there is no mistake in the cipher text. You can get an idea of same if you have solved 'Caesar Encryption'

Hello,

I have not solved the first. You know, the "DONX DLQD KDQNDOD ORSXVVD NLLWRV VHLVRR" one.

There are so many letter pairs. What does that mean?

Thanks,
-John

This is just the simple text that you have to solve using the approach of caesar cipher. Probably you should read the question clearly, it mentions three different stages on different pages.

Yes, I see better now. A Caesar cipher.
And I see the plain text is not in either German or English. That's what threw me. [HTML_REMOVED]
I've solved it now.

Thanks,

I've managed to solve all 3 codes, but I can't get the answers accepted. Is the second code upper or lower case? Are quotation marks required - one place says yes and one says no.
