Challenge "Pigpen with a twist — Part 1"

  By: admin on Sept. 2, 2011, 1:08 p.m.

In this challenge the rotational relationship between the Pigpen symbols are used to create a new cipher. In this part the well-known key squares are used as a warm up.

Cool code, I'm afraid what part II will be.

However, the website does not appear to be accepting any solutions, right or wrong. It just reloads and says 0 people are working on this cipher.

Hello DarkFibre,

could you try that again? I just tried to submit a solution and it seemed to work fine. Also one user already solved it. If it still doesn't work I will investigate the problem. If this is a technical issue, we will take measures so you don't have any disadvantage over it.
Just let me know if it works now.

Many thanks, it was just an idea I had one day so thought i'd turn it into a full blown challenge!

I enjoy working on the problems on this site so I thought i'd contribute.

I just tried again from my iphone with the same result… I will try using IE in a bit instead of firefox.

Ok, I just tried with IE on PP 1 and PP 3 and neither will accept an answer from me. They just reload the page when I hit submit. PP 3 still says 0 people are working on it. Neither says if it was the right or wrong answer.

Send me your answers and at least I can check if they are right so that when the site works for you you can be sure you are right.

I got the same problem as DarkFibre.
When I insert solution and press "Submit" the page just refresh itself and I see no answer whether answer was correct or not.

There is some error on web-page for this challenge.
There is also missing part of its name:
There is only "Pigpen with a"
instead of
"Pigpen with a "twist" - Part 1"
if you compare it with part two, then there you can see its full name

maybe this causes also the problem with inserting the solution

This challenge has more twists than in its name ;-)
You have to guess how to provide a solution.
You have to switch web-page into German language and then insert the solution.
If your web-page is set to English language then no answer would be accepted.
What a discrimination :-D ;-)

Okay sorry to you all for the issues this caused. Thanks to your description I could narrow it down and think this is linked to the quotations which most likely cause the post data to be submitted wrong. I just removed them as a quick fix and you should now be able to solve this again.
If this gets confirmed to work, I will take measures to cover up the loss of points.

Ahhhh, so the German one was working, that explains why others got their points!

Anyway, I can confirm the English version works now and I got credit for my answer. I hope to get updated to 200 points for this one :)

Okay it seems it's working now for everyone. I adjusted everyone who solved it before I corrected the error to the point exactly 1 second after publishing. This puts everyone at 200 points (each of the persons solving after the fix already had 200 so that didn't need to be considered).

Sorry for the bug and thanks for the patience. If you encounter any errors, please let us know.

Hey! If I google Pigpen I only get the "Freimaurer Code" which has nothing to do with rotation. Can somebody help me out? What are the "normal" squares? I don't know how to start. :(

Greetings, Nikita
