  By: admin on May 21, 2012, 8:47 p.m.

In this challenge an excerpt from a novel has been encrypted using the "Keyshanc" cipher. Keyshanc is a special kind of monoalphabetic substitution using a 95-character alphabet.

I am sorry, I do not understand what means in the challenge the sentence:
What is the next word in the plaintext?
Should I submit FIRST word of the plaintext (in ciphertext form)?
If not, so NEXT to which word it should be?
Is this word the only text to submit or the name of novelist is also in the answer?
(May be the problem is in my English only [HTML_REMOVED] )
Thank you.

What is the next word in the plaintext?

I was also confused by this sentence. It is the word that comes after the last word of the plaintext, i.e. the word is not present in the plaintext at all.

They probably have problems with server or something. But you can access the file at:
for part 1
http://www.mysterytwisterc3.org/images/ ... ertext.txt
for part 2
http://www.mysterytwisterc3.org/images/ ... ertext.txt

Just copy "http://www.mysterytwisterc3.org/images/challenges/" followed by the name of the file you want into address-bar of your browser.

Hello,

thanks for your feedback. There was indeed an error in the download function that always returned the PDF. This is now fixed: You will now always receive the correct file.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi,

Having completed the challenge, just wanted to point out that the 6th word in the ciphertext is printed incorrectly. It is missing a character in the given text file.

Hi all,

just for info, the two links given in the PDF appear to be dead (at least to me; I just get blank pages). However, I found links to the same material that work.

The two dead links:

http://andrewcreed.com/2012/04/06/keyshanc-code-walkthrough.html

http://andrewcreed.com/2012/04/18/tweet-with-keyshanc.html

The two replacements that work for me:

https://github.com/Networc/networc.github.com/blob/master/_posts/2012-04-06-keyshanc-code-walkthrough.md

https://github.com/Networc/networc.github.com/blob/master/_posts/2012-04-18-tweet-with-keyshanc.md

Hope this helps.

The two replacements that work for me…

Thanks a lot for this update. It's great that you share this with the other MTC3 participants. We also will update the challenge slides accordingly.
